How to Use Heart Rate Zone Training Outside
We have a power zone to HR zone conversion process that allows you to take our power based workouts outside with your heart rate monitor. Dialing this in can perfect your outdoor HR based workout experience.
Setting Up Your Heart Rate Zone Conversions
The foundation of effective heart rate training starts with setting your threshold heart rate in our app. This works similarly to how power-based training uses FTP - it becomes the reference point for all your zones.
For Zone 2 specifically, I recommend doing our Zone 2 heart rate test to find your upper limit. The test involves gradually increasing intensity while monitoring when you can no longer maintain comfortable conversation. Once you find that point, subtract 5 BPM to be safe - this becomes your Zone 2 upper target.
If you want to do a maximum heart rate test instead, we have that option too. Both tests help establish accurate zones that actually match your physiology rather than relying on age-based formulas.
Send to Garmin
This is the simplest way to perform a workout outside. Just send it and it shows up on todays calendar and will sync to your device.
