Guide to Offline Training

One thing that comes up is how to use TrainerDay workouts when you don't have a reliable internet connection. Whether you're training in a basement with spotty wifi or want to avoid interruptions during your workout, everything will work fine. Just plan ahead.

Understanding Your Options

Based on what I've seen users do, there are a few different approaches depending on your setup and preferences.

Using the Mobile App
Our mobile training app works offline once you've loaded your workouts. The key is to open the mobile app while you have a connection - this caches them locally on your phone. Once cached, you can run these workouts without internet. The app will sync any completed workout data when you're back online.

Working Around Connectivity Issues

I've helped users work through various connectivity scenarios. Here's what typically works best:

Prepare in Advance
The most reliable approach is to load your workouts ahead of time. Open each workout you plan to do while you have good internet. Our app will store these locally, so they're ready when you need them.

Using the Web Version
While our web version needs an internet connection, you can use it to preview and prepare workouts before switching to the mobile app for offline training. This gives you the best of both worlds - easy workout planning on a larger screen, then reliable offline execution on mobile.

What I've Learned From Users

Through supporting thousands of athletes, I've seen how training setups vary widely. Some users train in home offices and need to handle work calls, making phone-based solutions tricky. Others train in basements or garages where wifi is unreliable. The common thread is needing a reliable way to execute workouts without worrying about connectivity.

Making It Work for Your Setup

The most important thing is finding what works reliably for your situation. Here's what I typically recommend:

  1. If you're mainly training indoors with occasional connectivity issues, use the mobile app's caching feature
  2. If you want the full TrainerDay experience with a bigger display, use our casting feature with pre-loaded workouts

Remember, while TrainerDay is designed to work best with internet connectivity, we've built in these offline capabilities because I know how important it is to have reliable training sessions, regardless of your internet situation.

The key is to test your preferred setup before you really need it. Load up some workouts, try them in your training space, and make sure everything works the way you want it to.
